Putin: “Wars will not stop without the creation of a Palestinian state”

Russian President Vladimir Putin said in a speech on Wednesday (11.10) that the only way to resolve the conflict between Israel and Palestine is the creation of an independent Palestinian state.

“And in [Соединенных] There are many political figures and experts in the States who believe that we need to listen and follow the path of creating an independent (Palestinian – A.N.) state, and there are such people in Israel. But those who have been trying to solve this problem by force for decades are gaining the upper hand,” he said. “Unfortunately, this leads to the tragic incidents we are seeing now.”

Putin stressed that Russia’s position on the conflict “did not develop today, not in connection with these tragic events – it has developed over decades.”

“And this position is well known both to the Israeli side and to our friends in Palestine. We have always advocated the implementation of decisions of the UN Security Council. I mean, first of all, the creation of an independent sovereign Palestinian state. This is the root of all problems.”– said the President of the Russian Federation.

According to Putin, the factor that has exacerbated the problem on Israel’s part in recent years has been “settlement activity.” “To resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, it is necessary to implement the decisions of the UN Security Council on the creation of an independent sovereign Palestinian state,” Putin said.

At the same time, the Russian president called what was happening in Israel “terrible” and called on both sides to minimize the death of civilians.

“What is happening is terrible. We understand that the bitterness on both sides is very great, but whatever the level of tightening on both sides, we must strive to minimize or reduce to zero, to a minimum, losses among the civilian population – among women, children, old people”– Putin said. “If men decide to fight among themselves, let them fight among themselves. Leave women and children alone. This applies to both sides,” Putin emphasized.

“It is unknown whether it will be possible to calm the situation in the near future, but we must strive for this, because the expansion of the conflict zone can lead to serious consequences, including in the energy sector.”– Putin concluded.

Vladimir Putin also said that speculation about Iran’s possible involvement in the Hamas attack is “groundless”, noting that he sees no point in sending a US aircraft carrier group to the eastern Mediterranean. “I don’t understand why the United States is dragging one aircraft carrier group there (to the Mediterranean Sea) and announcing a second one. I don’t really see the point. Are they going to bombard Lebanon?Or did you just decide to scare someone? But there are people there who are no longer afraid of anything. It is not necessary to solve the problem this way, but to look for compromise solutions.”continued the President of the Russian Federation.

“Now we hear that Iran is accused of all sins, as usual, without evidence. There is no evidence.”– said Putin. “We’ll see, I hope common sense prevails” – concluded the President of the Russian Federation.
