Crete: 60-year-old man arrested with 1.5 kg of heroin


In the port of Chania, members of the Heraklion police drug control department arrested a 60-year-old Greek who arrived from Piraeus to Crete with 1.5 kg of heroin.

A citizen of the country was arrested in Heraklion for drug possession and trafficking. His arrest was the result of coordinated actions and operations carried out in this area. 1 kilogram and 502 grams of heroin were discovered and seized. In addition, an amount of 350 euros and precision scales were seized from the drug dealer.

Today (10/11/2023) in the morning, in one of the areas of the municipality of Chania, employees of the anti-drug department of the Heraklion Security Sub-Directorate detained a native of the city, accused of possession and trafficking in drugs.

In particular, within the framework of targeted actions and special measures developed by the General Regional Directorate of the Police of Crete to combat the possession and trafficking of drugs, as well as during the police investigation and preliminary investigation of the Anti-Narcotics Department of the Sub-Directorate of Security of Heraklion, after the appropriate use of evidence, it became clear that the arrested was involved in drug trafficking.

In this regard, a coordinated police operation was organized and carried out by employees of the above service, during which a citizen was discovered who had disembarked from the ferry in the port of Chania.

The man was detained, a check was carried out and the drugs found on him were seized:

  1. 1502 g of heroin.
  2. 350 euros as income from illegal activities.
  3. 2 mobile phones.
  4. Accurate scales.

Considering the retail price of one dose – 0.1 gram 15-30 euros – the police “catch” amounted to between 200 and 400 thousand euros.
