Political confrontation in Germany over financial support for Palestinians (video)

Many German politicians are calling for an immediate end to payments to the Palestinians: “Supporting terrorism is disgusting.”

Against the backdrop of hostilities in Israel, heated debate has erupted over a review of German financial support for the Palestinians. writes Greek edition newsbeast.gr. Christian Lindner, FDP leader and finance minister, asked Foreign Minister Analena Bärbock to propose how the German state should handle financial aid “in light of this violence.” And Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, the liberal head of the Bundestag’s defense committee, emphasized in an interview with the Funke Group newspaper the need to review funds for Palestinian relief:

“The Hamas attack on civilians should be taken as a reason to review all aid funds from Germany, the European Union and the UN intended for the Gaza Strip and how they are being used.”

Christian Democratic Party spokesman Roderick Kiesewetter, responsible for defense issues, said:

“Germany has pledged more than 340 million euros in aid. This should now stop immediately. Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas sided with Hamas, so this money should not be paid. It is not enough to simply express our political concerns. Concrete actions also need to be taken.”

Meanwhile, in Berlin, pro-Palestinian activists generously handed out baklava to “celebrate” the attack on Israel. Last Saturday, German police in the Berlin district of Neukjoll twice dispersed a meeting of the pro-Palestinian group Samidoun, which was celebrating a major attack by the Hamas terrorist group on Israel.

A few hours after the first crackdown, about five dozen people again gathered on the Sonnenal Boulevard, chanting violent and anti-Israel slogans. Because of these shouts, Berlin police officers dispersed the rally shortly after it began. In both cases, German law enforcement began criminal investigations:

“Our employees are documenting all events on the ground for evidentiary prosecution and are now establishing the identities of all the people who refused to disperse despite the dispersal of the meeting.”

Journalists from Welt statedthat they were forced to remove footage from the Sonnenal rally after threats from activists, whose actions were publicly condemned by the Israeli Embassy in Germany. German Interior Minister Nancy Feser then ordered increased security at Jewish sites.

Let us remind you that on Saturday morning the terrorist group Hamas carried out large-scale attack at Israel from the Gaza Strip, firing several thousand rockets into Israeli territory, as well as breaking through the border in several places. This is the biggest escalation of the Arab-Israeli conflict in the last 50 years. In response, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced counter-terrorism Operation Iron Swords and began shelling the infrastructure of the Gaza Strip.

Today it became known that the girl captured by militants, whose video spread online on Saturday, turned out to be a German citizen – her parents recognized her. She came to Israel for a music festival where 250 bodies were found after an attack by Hamas terrorists.
