Mitsotakis added that he would push for an increase in the EU budget for migration. More resources needed “to solve such an important problem that affects the entire EU.”

The Prime Minister added that The EU must allocate an additional 2.5 billion euros for disaster relief. “I had the opportunity to express at the European South meeting in Malta my disappointment regarding the limited funds allocated to disaster relief from the European Solidarity Fund,” he said, adding that additional funds are needed to ensure that European citizens know that the E.U. will in any case support them if the country suffers from natural disasters related to the climate crisis.”
