A French national was detained at Heraklion airport when a knife was found attached to his belt buckle during a security check.
The incident occurred on Saturday September 30 at noon, the French couple was flying to Lyon. Heraklion Airport security “Nikos Kazantzakis” noticed something strange on the 50-year-old man’s belt buckle and stopped him. There was a knife 8 cm long. Security officers raised the alarm and called the police.
The Frenchman was somewhat surprised and said that he came from Lyon with this belt, and no one stopped him, since the Lyon airport security staff did not notice the knife.
During the conversation, the police became convinced that the man had no criminal intentions and the couple was released to Lyon. But the belt with the knife was, of course, confiscated, writes CNN Greece.
