Measures to support citizens and subsidies on electricity bills for households, vulnerable consumers and farmers in October were announced by the Ministry of Environment and Energy today, September 29, 2023.
Next month electricity subsidies in tariffs for the population, for all basic and non-basic housing services, without income criteria and regardless of the provider, are structured as follows:
- For monthly consumption up to 500 kWh, the subsidy is 15 euros/MWh. This category covers 90% of Greek households.
- Those with monthly consumption exceeding 500 kWh will receive the same support provided they reduce their average daily energy consumption by 15% compared to last year.
- For households included in the social household tariff (SOT), the assistance amounts to 50 EUR/MWh of total consumption and covers 100% of the increased costs.
- For farmers, regardless of power and voltage level, the assistance amounts to 15 euros/MWh for the entire monthly electricity consumption.

In October, the total amount of government support for electricity supply to households and farmers is expected to exceed 22 million euros.
