The Russian strategy in Ukraine is an inexplicable mystery, since no one can understand what goal the Russians are pursuing by launching the Northern Military District. The Russians don’t seem to have the strength to fight back, or don’t want to use as much force as they need to, and seem to be trying to consolidate what they have achieved so far, which is very little compared to their initial gains. goals.

In fact, what they have achieved is not enough even to solve their main problem – ensuring Russia’s national security. Especially if they did not completely cut off Ukraine from the Black Sea. So the question arises: are they simply interested in destroying Ukraine’s infrastructure, as well as its economy, and thereby making the cost of rebuilding the country prohibitive for the West? But even so, the impression remains that their goals are very small.

They did not strike either government buildings or military barracks in Kyiv, which they practically did not touch, with the exception of power plants, as well as some buildings of the Ukrainian special service SBU. They avoided it even after Ukraine tried to use drones to strike the Kremlin. The attempt, of course, was unsuccessful, but they tried.

On the other hand, the Ukrainians claim that the recent attack on the Russian naval headquarters in Sevastopol killed 19 high-ranking Russian officers. Of course they say so. But what is Russia’s reaction to such an undoubtedly impressive blow?

Or remember the many, many Ukrainian attacks on the Crimean Bridge, where Western high-tech weapons were used. There were no significant retaliatory actions from the Russian side. Russian tactics still remain a mystery because the SVO targets are nowhere to be seen and cannot be “guessed.”

Do they want to claim what they have? Exhaust Ukraine? Capture Kharkov and Odessa, which is obvious? Do they want to exhaust the West? Maybe. This is evidenced by the Russian embargo on the export of diesel fuel and gasoline, and not only petroleum products, but also oil. Do they want to create the conditions for the deconstruction of Western governments?

But it seems that this did not help either, since in a number of countries the governments changed, followed by equally hostile or at least unfriendly governments, as in Finland, Italy, Bulgaria, etc. Maybe their goal is to deconstruct the Biden system? It is well known that it is the Democratic Party, with only 100 people in Washington, that determines the course of events.

Restrictions on the export of diesel and gasoline fuels and oil in general indicate an attempt to deplete American strategic reserves and maintain high fuel prices with the aim of impoverishing Western and American societies. But these are things that have nothing to do with military operations themselves. For on the fronts of the war goals no one can understand anything.

If anyone in Moscow is convinced that arms supplies to Ukraine will stop, or that Western weapons systems will end, then he is mistaken, they will never end. The reserves are huge, and they managed to “resurrect” the Western military industry in this way.

The same thing happened with the Russian defense industry, which was modernized, just as Russian military doctrines that had existed since World War II or, at most, since the Chechen wars were modernized.

There is, of course, the problem of human losses. The Russians cannot lose soldiers as they did at the beginning of the war. Of course, they cannot always avoid this, as was the case in the battles of Andreevka and Kleshcheevka. These are two settlements near Bakhmut and on its southern flank, which the Ukrainians managed to capture with very heavy losses, but inflicting no less heavy losses on the Russians.
