UK: preparing to send refugees to Rwanda (video)

The British are looking forward to sending refugees to Rwanda. But illegal immigrants from Eastern Europe may also end up in this impoverished African country.

As BB.LV reports, the UK Home Office has published an annual report on migration policy. The figures are “impressive”: keeping migrants in regulated hotels costs taxpayers around £8 million a day. And the asylum system as a whole, including living costs, costs £3 billion a year.

In the coming months, the Foreign Ministry report says, alternative forms of housing asylum seekers will be proposed. Labor readily used the report to its advantage. Yvette Cooper, the opposition shadow home secretary, said:

“The Tories have destroyed the asylum system and Britons are paying the price.”

She claims hotel prices have risen by a third since Rishi Sunak promised to end their use. At the same time, solving the problem of illegal migration is one of the main election promises of both the Conservatives and Labor. A Supreme Court ruling on sending asylum seekers to Rwanda is due next month. It will show who the next step will be.
