The Russian Foreign Ministry accused the EU of trying to create a new "iron curtain"

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded to the restriction on the entry of Russian cars into the European Union.

Commenting on the decision of individual Member States EU ban the entry of cars with Russian registration, the Foreign Ministry pointed out the “harm caused to ordinary Russians”, writes “European Truth” with reference to the department’s statement on official website.

Moscow considers the latest clarifications of the European Commission on the entry ban for Russian cars to be “beyond absurdity” and harmful to “ordinary Russians”:

“The desperate desire of the current EU leadership to erect a new “iron curtain” in Europe is now completely obvious, limiting as much as possible the possibilities of communication between people.”

The ministry regards the actions of the European Commission as “openly provoking EU member states to increase discrimination against Russians on the basis of nationality.” The Russian Foreign Ministry called on citizens to weigh the risks when traveling to the European Union:

“The capitals of the European Union states must clearly understand that it will not be possible to “sit behind” Brussels, hiding behind the notorious EU “solidarity”, which so openly tramples on human rights.”

Last week Baltic countries – Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia – made a decision terminate admission to the country of cars with Russian registration after clarifications from the EC. Later Poland and Finland joined them.
