Tragic end to Austrian newlyweds’ honeymoon


A young tourist couple from Austria who disappeared during bad weather in Pelion has been found. The woman’s body has been identified.

It was found last Friday on the coast of Θεοτόκος near the village of Liri in Pelion. A DNA test determined that the body belongs to an Austrian tourist who disappeared in the area.

On Wednesday 13 September, the coast guard discovered the body of a man on Mourtia beach in southern Pelion. Initial information suggests that this is an Austrian who went missing at the same time reports CNN Greece.

Previously, our publication reported that newlyweds Philip and Michaela from Graz, Austria missing. The house in which they decided to spend their honeymoon was carried away by a storm of water.

This was not the first time they came to vacation in Greece, in Pelion. For the wedding and honeymoon we decided to revisit our favorite places. They stayed in a house where another couple from Austria lived – they were rescued. When the cyclone hit, they left the rooms and decided to seek salvation on the Xinovrysia Hill. They invited Philip and Michaela to come with them, but they decided that it was safer in the house.
