A man was arrested in Chania for paying for purchases with counterfeit €50 banknotes.
By making small purchases and paying 50 euros, the Greek deceived the merchants of Chania, as it turned out that the banknotes were counterfeit. But from the purchases he made (honey, oil, olives and other local products), the change he received was absolutely real.
The victims, having discovered this, contacted the Kissamos police station. Law enforcement officers identified and arrested the scoundrel. The man had 11 counterfeit banknotes with a face value of 50 euros, as well as a pistol with a magazine, cartridges and brass knuckles. In addition, the detainee’s personal car was confiscated.
The investigation continues at the Kissamos Police Station.
