A domestic helper has been arrested for her involvement in the theft of a safe from an apartment in Thessaloniki in July 2019. Jewels worth 500,000 euros and cash (8,000 euros) were included in the items stolen.
In Thessaloniki, four people have been identified in connection with a theft case. As a result of the investigation conducted by the Department for Combating Property Crimes, information was established in the case of four people (all citizens of Georgia). In addition to the 27-year-old domestic worker, who remains in custody, the case file names three men (39, 52 and 46 years old) who are accused either as perpetrators or as accomplices in the theft.

During the police investigation, it turned out that the attackers entered the apartment (in the center of Thessaloniki), leaving no traces, took out a safe, which they loaded into a car and disappeared. The investigation into this case was preceded by cooperation with EUROPOL, the police said in a statement.
A 46-year-old man, one of the accused, was arrested earlier and was released with restrictive conditions after confessing, while his two co-accused, who remain unarrested, appear to have fled abroad. European arrest warrants have been issued against them.
