Financial Times: Kim Jong-un is ready "share weapons"

As expected, at a meeting in Vladivostok between Russian President Vladimir Putin and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un, the main topic of negotiations will be the sale of weapons to Moscow.

About it writes Financial Times, noting that the details of the agreement remain unclear. With a high degree of probability, Pyongyang will offer missile systems, short-range ballistic missiles and ammunition in exchange for oil, currency and grain. In addition, the Russian Federation can provide North Korea with “highly sensitive military technologies” that could threaten its neighbors – South Korea and Japan. The conclusion of such a deal will help Moscow resist Kyiv’s counter-offensive, the publication notes.

The New York Times reported on Kim Jong-un’s upcoming September visit to Russia. It is quite possible that the head of the DPRK will visit Moscow, but information about this has not been confirmed.

The White House reported on August 29 that the heads of the Russian Federation and the DPRK exchanged letters mentioning a possible agreement on the supply of weapons. John Kirby, a White House spokesman, noted that negotiations on military cooperation between the two countries are “actively developing” at a high level.

The Korea Times reported on September 4, citing data from the South Korean National Intelligence Service, that Sergei Shoigu, head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, invited Kim Jong-un to conduct joint military exercises. Never before, in the entire history of its existence, has North Korea conducted joint military maneuvers with other states.

Last summer, in July, Shoigu visited Pyongyang and attended an arms exhibition where combat and reconnaissance drones and the latest intercontinental ballistic missiles were presented.
