Wild boars scattered across Evia. Citizens report that at least 10 wild animals roam the main streets.
The presence of wild animals was first noticed on Alikis Street, on the road leading to the beach, in the so-called “φυστίκια του Λεωνίδα”. Drivers traveling in this area should be especially careful to avoid accidents.
Farmers talk about the increase in the number of wild boars in Northern Evia compared to previous years. In search of food, in one “raid on the fields” they destroy the crop “under the root”.
Boars reach 110-180 cm in length and 170-250 kg of weight. They have a very developed sense of smell and hearing, while their eyesight is limited, they mainly perceive movement. And, like most four-legged mammals, they do not distinguish colors.
