Greek newspaper police editor "Parapolitics" died in a house fire

Journalist Antonis Chrysolakis was the victim of a fire that broke out in his apartment in Attica Square. The man’s body was found by firefighters.

The fire started in the kitchen writes newsbeast.gr. Presumably, the journalist was cooking his own food and fell asleep. At 8 o’clock in the morning, the fire department received a signal about a fire in an apartment located on the first floor of an apartment building on Aygeos Street.

Firefighters found Chrysulakis unconscious on the floor. The body of a man with traces of burns lay in the direction of the exit from the house. The ambulance immediately took him to the hospital “Gennimatas”, but the doctors could only state the death of the journalist. The fire department said in a statement:

“The body of a man was found in an apartment near Attica Square, inside which there were clear signs of a fire that was extinguished before the arrival of our service, which was reported in the morning hours today to the municipality of Athens. The body was delivered by an ambulance. A preliminary investigation into the above incident is being carried out by the competent investigative department.”

Yannis Kurtakis, publisher of the Greek newspaper Parapolitika, wrote on Facebook:

“One of the best guys I have ever worked with. A young journalist who approached his work with passion. He had plans and dreams for life, as he said. In the blink of an eye, he became an integral member of the Parapolitic family. He left this morning, sending his last message at 06:30. Have a good trip, my friend.”
