Greece: European-certified cycling routes


The “bike municipality” emblem has been updated by the municipality of Aristotelis, Chalkidiki, in connection with the renewal of the Bike Friendly certificate for the next three years (2023-2026) by NatTour, which aims to promote and develop alternative forms of tourism.

The municipality of Aristotelis was the first in Greece to receive this special sign in 2020which is awarded to hotels, municipalities or tourist destinations and organizations that meet a set of internationally recognized quality criteria.

The action is developed by NatTour in cooperation with the Hellenic Society for the Protection of Nature (EEPF) and is under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism and the Ministry of Environment and Energy.

In his statements, Mayor Aristotelis Stelios Valianos noted that “another integrated tourism product has been created, supporting and certifying existing infrastructures, adding up-to-date data to them, and also including many local hotels in a national cyclist-friendly platform so that they can access modern, safe, expanded and complete network of cycling services”.
