Maria Sharapova has chosen Greece for her holiday this year and has been enjoying Messinian Mani for the past few days.
Although years have passed since she retired from active life, the former tennis player still seems to be unaccustomed to relaxing in the summer, which she wrote on Instagram, posting many photos from her vacation in Mani. “Summer vacation? It’s still something new for me,” writes Maria, posting some photos of moments of relaxation in Kardamyli and the magnificent home of Patrick Lee Fermor.
Maria Sharapova was born on April 19, 1987 in the city of Nyagan and started playing tennis at the age of four, when her family lived in Sochi. The first racket of Maria was presented by Yevgeny Kafelnikov. At the age of six, Sharapova attended a master class by Martina Navratilova in Moscow. She advised the father of the Russian woman to send her daughter to the Nick Bollettieri Academy in Florida. In 1995, Yuri and Maria Sharapova moved to the United States.
The Russian woman began her professional career in 2001, and the following season she made her debut in the main draw of the WTA tournament. A year later, Sharapova won her first WTA-level trophies with victories in Tokyo and Quebec. Maria Sharapova retired from tennis in 2020. In her long career, she has won five Grand Slams, twice at Roland Garros, and once each at the Australian Open, the US Open, and Wimbledon.
