Igor Strelkov-Girkin sent to jail until September (video)

Yesterday, a court in Moscow listened to the arguments of the investigation and sent Igor Girkin, a former participant in hostilities in Ukraine, to a pre-trial detention center.

How reported our publication, in Moscow on Friday, a retired FSB officer Igor Strelkov (Girkin) was detained, a criminal case was initiated on incitement to extremism. The detention of Strelkov is associated with the fact that the day before, as usual, he criticized the Russian authorities, but this time he harshly criticized the President of the Russian Federation. From the very beginning of the war against Ukraine in 2022, Strelkov has categorically opposed the military and political leadership of Russia.

The petition of the investigation to select a measure of restraint for Girkin was considered by the Meshchansky Court of Moscow. Judge Olesya Mendeleeva decided to detain him until September 18, the case was initiated under the article on public calls for extremist activities (part 2 of article 280 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), follows from the press service of the court. Strelkov himself offered house arrest, writes Air Force:

“Recently, I was diagnosed with angina pectoris of the second degree, I did not have time to get any certificates. I take the necessary medications daily. I would like to pass a measure of restraint as house arrest. The statement of the investigator that I can hide abroad is frankly ridiculous, I am wanted by Interpol in most countries of the world. I have been sentenced by the Hague Tribunal to life imprisonment for a crime I did not commit.”

Alexander Molokhov, Girkin’s lawyer, told the court that two posts on Strelkov’s telegram channel dated May 25 appear in the case. In turn, the FSB investigator told the court that the case had been opened on 18 July. According to the materials presented in court, Strelkov does not admit guilt and does not cooperate with the investigation.
