Cannabis plantation found in Attica villa – more than 275 kg seized, seven arrests


The Greek police began to liquidate a criminal organization whose members were growing a large number of hemp seedlings in a villa located in one of the districts of Attica.

As part of a coordinated police operation that took place this morning, 22.07, searches and arrests were carried out in various parts of Attica, with the participation of EKAM police officers and the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service, as well as accompanying police dogs, during which seven members of the drug cartel were detained.

Against them, as well as against at least one other person who is identified and is wanted, a criminal organization case has been initiated, as well as a violation of drug laws. According to ΕΛ.ΑΣ., during the investigation, it was established that the detainees, according to preliminary data, formed a criminal group at least last quarter and established the cultivation of hemp seedlings in the villa.

A police raid discovered and confiscated a complete “factory” for growing cannabis seedlings, consisting of special equipment (for planting, growing, harvesting, separating, defoliating and drying). At the moment, 343 hemp seedlings up to 2 meters high were grown in it. In total, during searches conducted at the dacha and in the homes of the arrested, the following were found and confiscated:

  • 228 kg of raw hemp,
  • 47 kg of processed hemp (tiles),
  • 900 ml hash oil
  • 2.93 grams of cocaine
  • 39,468 euros and 3 British pounds (gold coins),
  • expensive watches,
  • 5 cars,
  • various telephone devices and sim cards.

According to the police, the amount of drugs seized would have brought financial benefits to the criminal organization in the amount of 1,026,000 to 2,185,000 euros. The arrested were taken to the competent prosecutor’s office.
