Maria Carra: Ex-wife of Georgios Tragas released on bail of 50,000 euros

The widow of Georgios Tragas, Maria Carra, with the consent of the authorized investigator of Athens and the competent prosecutor, was released from custody with the only restrictive condition, which is the payment of a guarantee of 50,000 euros.

She charged with two criminal offenses related to concealing the “location” of assets worth more than 300,000 euros. According to the materials of the case, the period of time during which the specific offenses were allegedly committed is from 2012 to 2021.

In addition, new information on the property of Georgios Tragas indicates that his son Giannis also sued his father’s young wife, Maria Carra, including in relation to their property in the United States.

According to protothema.gr, at the end of June, Yannis Tragas handed over to the authorities a file with information collected by lawyers in the United States about the property of his late father in America and the movements of Maria Carra.

Also in the same folder there is a list of expenses that his father’s last wife spent, “burdening the inheritance.” The publication notes that Maria Carra with her lawyers in Monaco and Paris insists on jointly signing the legalization of inheritance without including American property. In fact, Yiannis Tragas presented to the authorities all the correspondence about the “pressure” that the widow has been exerting on him in recent months.

The investigation of the Department of Financial Crimes of the Prosecutor’s Office of Appeal is ongoing and it is expected soon that another son of Georgios Trakas, Fredericos or Freddy, who is known to renounced his inheritance, will testify. After him, the turn of Maria Carra herself will come, and the case of the division of the famous journalist’s inheritance, apparently, still “has no end in sight.”
