Human remains found at garbage disposal plant

The incredible thriller continues from yesterday Tuesday, July 18, in Akrotiri Chania – a human head was found among the sorted items on the DEDISA conveyor belt.

According to neakriti.gr, it initially appeared to be the head of a woman, but then, after being examined by a forensic scientist, it turned out that the head belongs to an unidentified man, possibly of Asian descent, who died about 10 days ago. A few hours later, a bag was found with his lower limbs and other organs (innards). However, the heat of recent days could have affected the exact data due to the advanced degree of decomposition of the corpse.

The police sounded the alarm, looking for body parts of a decapitated man in other tanks – not only garbage, but also for organic waste in the city of Chania and other areas. There have been no reports of missing people recently, but everything suggests that the investigation is moving towards uncovering a heinous crime.

Chronicle of the discovery of a dismembered body
The man’s head was found wrapped in a plastic bag around 3:30 pm yesterday (18/07) afternoon. At exactly the same moment, the DEDISA staff, in a state of shock from the terrible find, called the police, who cordoned off the area until the arrival of the forensic expert. He determined that it was a man of about 30-40 years old. For the police, the goal is to identify the deceased and find the rest of the body of the decapitated man, who, according to first estimates, is the victim of a brutal murder.

Human remains came from a container installed in the Rethymnon area
According to cretalive.gr, a garbage truck with dismembered human remains discovered at noon on Tuesday (18.07) at a processing plant, arrived from the Rethymnon area. This is what the investigations of the authorities, based on the testimony of the processing enterprises, have come to with certainty. At the moment, Chania security police officers remain at the DEDISA facilities, who, together with employees of the inter-municipal enterprise, continue to search for the missing body fragments among tons of waste and a terrible stench. The process, according to experts, will take several days.

Chania: workers in shock
“The shift supervisor told me that dismembered human corpse found on material sorting belt. The production process was immediately stopped and the police department of Chania was duly notified. There were three workers on the sorting line who saw the human limbs. They are in a state of shock. Like all of us (…). The enterprise will provide assistance to the families of the employees of the enterprise who survived the shock,” said Kostas Paterakis, CEO of DEDISA.
