Market Pass: today payment of the fee

Today, Monday July 3rd, the last scheduled Market Pass payment is expected to be paid for those who have chosen a “digital card”.

However, the government seems to be determined to continue the social measure of support for citizens in relation to the provision of food to the poor: Market Pass and the “Family Basket”.

According to the information, the most likely scenario is Three-month Market Pass extension, but a five-month scenario is also being considered (August to December 2023). The program budget will be 100 million per monthwhile the monthly subsidy remains constant from 22 to 100 euroswhile it concerns about 8.5 million citizens.

After this period, according to competent sources, measure will be reviewed and depending on inflation indicators. It is possible that the support program will be extended until the end of the year.

It is noted that the amounts payable per 1 household are as follows:

• 22 euros single,
• 32 euros for a couple without children,
• 32 euros for an incomplete family with 1 dependent child,
• 42 euros for an incomplete family with two dependent children,
• 42 euros for a married couple with 1 dependent child,
• 52 euros for a couple with two dependent children,
• 62 euros for a couple with three dependent children,
• €72 for a couple with four dependent children.

Stores where consumers can use “virtual money” credited to their “digital card”:

• Grocery stores, supermarkets, butchers, pastry shops, dairy shops, bakeries, as well as various food stores.
• Any transfer to a third party or withdrawal of the amount credited to the debit card is not possible.
• The digital debit card is used through a device that supports contactless transaction technology (Web/Virtual POS).
• The digital debit card will remain active until 08/31/2023. The lending institution or financial institution that provided it is then required to immediately deactivate it, with any unused balance being lost.
