The Greek city of Ermoupoli has been named one of the 20 best seaside towns in Europe by Condé Nast Traveler.
As reported in a travel magazine, the capital of the island of Syros, Ermoupoli, has majestic beauty and a well-recognized “cubic architecture”. The island is full of events throughout the year. Syros has many public and private kindergartens and primary schools, as well as gymnasiums, lyceums and vocational schools. There are also higher educational institutions: the Faculty of Mechanical Design of Goods and Systems of the University of the Aegean and the Merchant Marine Academy.
And on the beaches, festivals of cinema, jazz, animation, street art and classical music are held all year round. You won’t see people taking selfies here, the prices are low, and the people are incredibly friendly, according to the magazine. In seaside restaurants, local chefs prepare unique dishes, such as sea urchin caviar pasta with ouzo.
