The scandalous reportage of the French channel and the reaction of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry (video)

The French TV channel TF1 made a report from the positions of the Russian military located in the occupied territory of Ukraine. The Ukrainian Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded: “The next bottom has been broken.”

Oleg Nikolenko, press secretary of the department, wrote on Twitter, quotes “European Truth”:

“TF1Info’s report that Russian troops plan to destroy even more cities in the occupied territories of Ukraine breaks a new bottom of journalism.”

He drew attention to the fact that with this report, journalists are promoting a narrative about the “power of the Russian army” and defame the memory of those whom it killed. Nikolenko also noted that the journalists got to the occupied territories of Ukraine illegally.

On June 15, TF1 posted on their Youtube channel a report filmed on Russian military positions, without any mention of the broader context of Russia’s war against Ukraine. The plot shows the intensive movement of Russian military equipment, fortifications, fire on Ukrainian troops, preparation of FPV drones for launch.

In voiceovers, they never mentioned the name of the aggressor, did not mention facts from a wider context, noting only that the Russian military was expecting a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and had been preparing for it for a long time.

This is not the first controversial report by French journalists from the front line. In April, the France 24 channel showed a story about the preparation of Russian troops for a counteroffensive by the Armed Forces of Ukraine at a base located 30 km from the line of contact. Then the Ambassador of Ukraine to France, Vadim Omelchenko, called him “a bad example of so-called neutral journalism”, after which the TV channel removed him.

The story was titled “War in Ukraine: Russian Troops Prepare for Battle Before Counteroffensive.” The description for it says that the film crew visited a military camp “30 kilometers from the front line”, and most of the soldiers stationed there “were called up from Siberia” and are not professional soldiers. Where exactly the camp is located is not specified in the plot.

One of the men, identified as a Russian soldier in the story, says that Russian weapons are better than Western ones. He also states that he must defend his country “with dignity” as his grandfather also fought.
