On Friday, the Xanthi police brought a newborn, who was only a few hours old, allegedly found on the street. However, on Saturday, the baby’s mother appeared at the police station.
The baby was brought in by a man, and the baby was immediately taken to Xanthi General Hospital for a medical examination to determine if he was well. After all, the applicant said writes xanthinea.gr that he found a baby left by someone right on the street, in the Γενισέας area.
However, the police quickly managed to establish the truth: the relative of the man gave birth to the child and thus tried to abandon him. On Saturday at about 12:30 pm, a 27-year-old girl stepped into the police station and told the truth. She claims that she simply panicked after the birth of the baby, since none of her relatives knew about her pregnancy:
“I gave birth at 10 am on Friday when I was at my grandmother’s house. Nobody knew about the pregnancy. I didn’t have milk to feed him. I panicked.”
Then she said that at 00.30, that is, almost 14 hours after the birth of the crumbs, she called her brother and said that she had found the baby near their grandmother’s house. The police carefully listened to the girl and reported everything to the prosecutor – by his order, the young mother was not arrested.
Accompanied by police officers from the security department of Xanthi, the woman was taken to the city hospital for tests, gynecological and psychiatric examinations and for the return of the child. The investigation is ongoing.
