Organization of an ambulance corridor for a 19-year-old pregnant woman

A young girl, who was 26 weeks pregnant, developed complications and the doctors felt it necessary to immediately transfer her from Kozani to Thessaloniki.

This morning, an “ambulance corridor” was organized so that the patient could be transported without delay to the hospital. Life-saving action for a 19-year-old pregnant woman and her baby was carried out through a coordinated operation ΕΛΑΣ.

According to the website makthes.gr, the girl had complications, and the doctors considered it necessary to urgently transfer her to Thessaloniki. The police were informed that an “emergency corridor” was required. Thessaloniki police station prepared to receive an ambulance in Malgar so that the woman could arrive at the hospital as soon as possible, as her and the child’s lives were in danger.

Four patrol cars, four DIAS brigades and two ZITA brigades began to escort the ambulance from Malgara to the Hippocratio Hospital (Ιπποκράτειο). Throughout the route, the staff of the above authorities safely directed traffic so that the ambulance could pass and the woman arrived at the hospital on time.

On st. Aristotle’s car EKAB had to move into the oncoming lane so that not a single precious minute was lost. The excitement at the Emergency Center was great, but the whole operation was observed calmly so that all the police officers involved in it were given the right instructions.

The journey from Malgara to Ippokratio took only 14 minutes, thanks to the “bridge of life” (γέφυρα ζωής) erected by ΕΛΑΣ.

According to the information, the girl is expected to give birth, and the child will immediately go to the incubator, as the fetus is only 6.5 months old, and there are complications.
