Russia accuses US of attacking Kremlin

Russia has accused the US of being behind a drone attack on the Kremlin aimed at assassinating President Vladimir Putin.

Russia considers the United States involved in the attack on the Kremlin: such decisions are made in Washington, not in Kyiv, said the press secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov. According to him, as a result of the attack, two fragments (sheets) of the roof on the dome of the Senate Palace were scorched. Despite this, Putin today works in the Kremlin, but at the time of the attack he was in Novo-Ogaryovo.

Decisions on “terrorist attacks” like the drone attack on the Kremlin are made in Washington, not in Ukraine, TASS quotes Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov. “We are well aware that decisions on such actions, such terrorist attacks, are not made in Kyiv. Namely, Washington. And Kyiv is already doing what it is told to do,” Peskov said.

Peskov did not provide any evidence to support the allegation of American involvement, but said that this (action) will not remain without consequences.

The investigation of the drone attack is carried out by the Investigative Committee and other competent services. Where the drones were launched from – from the territory of Russia or Ukraine, as well as their specific modification, Peskov does not know, the investigation will deal with this. Variants of Russia’s “response” to the attack there may be “very different”, but we can only talk about “thought out, balanced and in line with the interests” of Russia steps, said Peskov.

The attack on the Kremlin did not affect the plans for the Victory Parade on May 9: a “normal procession” is being prepared in which Putin will take part. According to the press secretary, security measures will be strengthened.

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky denied Ukraine’s involvement in the drone attack on the Kremlin. This statement contradicts the real attacks by Ukrainian drones on oil depots and other critical infrastructure facilities on the territory of the Russian Federation. In addition, earlier, near Moscow, fallen Ukrainian drones were found.

The Ukrainian edition of Word and Deed published a map of attacks by Ukrainian drones on objects located in Russia.

According to this map, Ukraine launched at least 40 drones across the territory of the Russian Federation and Crimea. Many of them have successfully achieved their goals.
