Attack on Thanos Pleuris in Petralona

Greek Minister of Health Thanos Pleuris was urgently taken to the intensive care unit “Λαϊκού” with an eye injury.

On Sunday 30 April, while having lunch with his family in the Petralona area, Mr. Pleuris was attacked by having an unknown liquid splashed in his face. The minister was urgently taken to the Laikos hospital. The doctors said in a statement, writes CNN Greece:

“At about 03:20 pm, the Minister of Health, Mr. Athanasios Pleurys, was urgently admitted to the Eye Clinic of the LAICO General Hospital after being attacked on his face by throwing a white liquid substance in the presence of his family. An ophthalmological examination revealed intense, diffuse hyperemia and swelling of the conjunctiva left eye, punctate apoptosis of the corneal epithelium of the same eye. Appropriate first aid was provided, treatment and re-examination were recommended. Subsequently, the minister left the hospital in good general condition.”
