Albanian ‘bought’ baby for 900 euros to beg

In hand ΕΛΑΣ there is a 56-year-old man from Albania against whom an international arrest warrant has been issued for trafficking in minors.

According to the information, he “bought” an 8-year-old boy from his relatives living in Albania and brought him to Athens, where he forced him to beg in order to profit from it. He gave 900 euros to a needy family in order to “get at his disposal a child,” whom he then forced to beg in different parts of Athens.

Albanian authorities say a man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for trafficking in minors. In addition, he is on the international wanted list of Interpol.

Last Monday, 17/04/23, the police found a man in Agios Nikolaos (Patissia) during a raid. He was arrested and taken to the prosecutor’s office.
