Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking at a ceremony to start the flow of natural gas from the Black Sea fields into the Turkish energy system, promised free gas to households, however, only for a year.
The ceremony of launching Black Sea gas supplies took place at the Filyos gas processing complex in Zonguldak province. In his address, the President of Turkey said:
“We completed this project in a record 32 months. Türkiye today has taken a huge step towards energy independence.”
Erdogan said that 10 million cubic meters of gas will be extracted from the Sakarya field at the first stage, and 40 million cubic meters of gas at the second stage, and stressed that quotes Anadolu:
“Black Sea natural gas will cover 30% of Turkey’s needs. In addition, thanks to the project, we are turning Filyos and Zonguldak into an important energy and technological base.”
Erdogan also promised that natural gas for household kitchens and hot water would be supplied free of charge throughout the year, adding:
“In addition, all households are exempt from all gas payments for a month.”
On this occasion, it is worth remembering that in less than a month, on May 14, presidential elections will be held in the country. chief rival Erdogan will be Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, 74, head of Turkey’s oldest political party.
