One dead and six injured – this is the result of today’s traffic accident on the Athens-Thessaloniki highway involving a bus company ΚΤΕΛ.
The accident occurred near the Platamonas tunnel early Sunday morning. The bus collided with two cars that were on the emergency lane of the PATHE highway (the Pathe motorway is part of the European route E75 and is operated by Nea Odos).
By information thestival.gr, the bus crashed into parked cars, killing one person and injuring six others. There were 77 people on board the bus, all of whom continued on their way to Athens on another long-distance bus.
A 19-year-old man died, he was in one of two parked cars. Three other men, aged 19, 22 and 34, were in the same vehicle and were seriously injured. In the second car, three people received minor injuries.
Due to a tragic collision, the flow to PATHE towards Athens is closed, currently the movement is carried out on one lane. The bus driver was arrested and a criminal case was initiated against him.
