Suppliers to announce new electricity prices today

It is expected that electricity prices in May will be at the same level as in April. This is the first assessment made by the leaders of the companies supplying electricity, and today, April 20, they will announce competitive tariffs for the next month.

Thus, it is expected that their tariffs, excluding subsidies from the Energy Transition Fund, will change from 0.105 to 0.1995 euros per kilowatt-hour.

Subsidies

If the nominal prices of suppliers remain at the level of April and the Ministry of Environment and Energy subsidizes electricity bills in the amount of 0.015 euros per kilowatt hour, then the range of final prices, that is, those that will be charged to households for consumption, will be from 0.09 to 0.1845 euros per kilowatt-hour.

In general, the estimates of electricity market participants show that the cost of electricity will remain stable for at least the next two months. Although, as they warn, the crisis is not over yet. An unforeseen event can very easily cause turbulence in both the European and domestic markets.

Extension of emergency measures

On the other hand, as Athens News has already written, the government is expected to extend the emergency measures in the domestic market. That is, it will be saved limit on wholesale sales of electricity, “freezing” the item on indexation in the accounts and the free movement of consumers from supplier to supplier, that is, without accruing financial penalties. Obligation of electricity suppliers to announce prices for the next month on the 20th of the current month will also remain in effect.

The leadership of the ministry sent a request to extend the emergency measures until the end of the year. They expire in June. At the same time, energy companies, in an effort to attract more customers, have put in place a new marketing strategy.

New programs

In the last two or three months, new electricity supply programs have been announced. Their rates are lower than others. They are also generally lower than competitors. Thus, they seek to attract new customers and increase their market share.

However, according to market participants, despite the freedom of movement of consumers, mobility is low. In other words, they don’t change service providers very easily, despite statements from the authorities that supplier companies are obligated to satisfy consumer applications without any delays or penalties. However, almost 10 months after the introduction of the exceptional measures, there is a strong trend of consumers looking for the most competitive schemes with the lowest electricity prices.
