Disappointing news about the white tiger cub

Ms. Natassa Bombolaki, President of the Panhellenic Federation for the Environment and Animals “Νέμεσις”, called the plight of Hasia, a small tiger cub that was found abandoned outside of Attico Park, “extremely hopeless”, citing the opinion of a panel of 12 competent experts.

Khasia, that’s what the tigress was called, is probably in unbearable pain. The condition of the animal is extremely serious. “The tiger cub is on strong painkillers, she is injected with narcotic drugs so that the pet can cope with the pain. Khasia’s ribs are broken and her lungs are compressed. The veterinarians fought for her life as best they could,” says the head of Νέμεσις.

“More than 20 scientists who were sent the “Hasiya story” over the Internet came to the conclusion that she does not even have a 1 in a trillion chance of surviving. An animal can last no more than a month,” says Ms. Bombolaki, and cites as an example a treatment center in America, whose answer was: “if the tiger gets to us, it is unlikely that it will survive in the end …”.

An official decision on the tiger cub will be announced today or tomorrow, according to a Facebook post by the NGO Νέμεσις. But, as Ms. Bombolaki says, “it will be a ‘good deed’, saving the animal from suffering (meaning euthanasia).”

As previously written “Athenian News”a commission of 12 veterinarians reviewed in detail the data presented by them (analyses and conclusions after MRI and CT), describing the health status of a four-month-old tigress.

It was assumed that a decision would be made to transfer Khasia to a specialized wildlife center abroad. The commission was attended by two professors of veterinary medicine from AUTH, two from the Department of Veterinary Medicine of the University of Thessaly, as well as other specialists, including foreign ones.
Recall that the unfortunate animal with paralyzed hind legs was found near the garbage cans of the zoo Attikon. Police are investigating to identify the person who “dumped a wild animal.”

As the Athenian News wrote earlier, the trade in wild animals in Europe is prohibited. However, this is one of income items of illegal businessalong with trafficking in arms, drugs and people.
