Tourism: "Changing the rules of the game"

Forecasts for the tourist season this year, according to experts, are very optimistic.

All indications are that it will be better than 2022 as pre-bookings as well as figures for January-February 2023 are encouraging.

At the country’s regional airports, according to Fraport Greece, in the first two months, international flights recorded an increase of 13.1% and 11.8% respectively compared to last year, while the number of passenger flights increased to 60.6% compared to January and February. 2022 (46%).

Tourism Minister Vassilis Kikilias notes that Fraport’s data – more than 1.1 million passengers (+51% compared to 2022) and traffic in the first two months of 2023 at the country’s regional airports – portends a “very good year for tourism”.

The Minister of Tourism expressed his competent opinion at the 12th Panhellenic Conference of the Association for Professional and Conference Tourism, entitled “Meetings in Greece: The Game Changer”.

The senior government official pointed out that Greek tourism is the most powerful pillar of the Greek economy, and without it the country would not be able to develop. The sphere is at the forefront of business and conference tourism. And it is an important sector that makes a significant contribution to the state treasury.
