Electricity bills: April prices will be reduced by 10%-20%

Providers continue to reduce electricity tariffs by offering appropriate programs available to consumers.

Today around midnight energy companies will post competitive rates on their websiteswhich are estimated to be at least 10% and possibly 20% lower than in March.

The prices at which customers of supplier companies will be billed for next month’s consumption will not be final. Their final amount will be determined by the subsidy.announced by the Ministry of Environment and Energy. State official Kostas Skrekas will determine the amount of state aid by the end of March.

According to available information, electricity suppliers will continue to reduce tariffs. If the information is confirmed, then for programs (without discounts) the lowest tariffs will be 0.15-0.17 EUR/kWh, and the highest – 0.20-0.23 EUR/kWh. These are 10% and 20% discounts compared to the current month. The electricity market leaders base their own choice of price threshold on the following factors:

1. Decrease in wholesale market prices for electricity. For the third month in a row, they are moving down, and this trend is also the main reason for how their price lists are structured. However, the market remains wary of both Hellenic Energy Exchange prices and TTF natural gas prices and remains volatile.

2. Cancellation of the special fee of 10 EUR/MWh from the price of natural gas purchased by electricity producers. This resulted in a decrease in retail electricity prices by 18 EUR/MWh or 0.18 EUR/kWh. With regard to the special fee, it should be noted that the method of its calculation has changed. Now it is calculated as 5% of the TTF price.

3. Taxation of additional income from electricity trade. Suppliers also take into account the taxation of their additional income due to the energy crisis. In the coming days, an appropriate decision is expected, which will determine the method of taxation.
