The first public opinion poll after the Tempi train disaster on February 28 was published by the ANT1 TV channel on Thursday.
The vast majority of citizens want a thorough investigation into the accident, and the ruling New Democracy is losing votes.
In terms of voting intentions, the conservative government of Mitsotakis New Democracy lost 2.9%, but is still ahead of the left SYRIZA.
At the same time, citizens want a thorough investigation into the collision. trainswhich killed 57 people, and they do not believe the government’s original version of only “human error”.

New Democracy 29.6%, SYRIZA 25%, PASOK 9.7%, KKE 5.6%, Nationalist Greek Solution 3.9%, MeRA25 3.5%, Hellenes 3% (not sure if they will be allowed to vote). The threshold for entering the Greek Parliament is 3%.
When elections are due: 45.2% on April 9 (40 days after the crash), later in May 46.4%.
The biggest problem: 86% train crash, 69% high prices, 23.1% political corruption, 22.1% crime, 16.4% national issues/Greek-Turkish relations,
13.5% war in Ukraine, 10.3% natural disasters, 6.7% wiretapping, 5% migration, 4.4% Polakis (SYRIZA MP), 3.85 Covid-19 pandemic
Overall government assessment: 56.7% negative (38%) and rather negative (18.4%), 42% positive (20.1%) and rather positive (21.9%)
Concerning general assessment of government performancethen 20.1% of respondents positively assess it, rather positively – 21.9%, rather negatively – 18.4%, negatively – 38.3%.
Question about the popularity of political leaders: Kyriakos Mitsotakis is still in the lead with 38.9%, followed by Alexis Tsipras with 28.5%, Nikos Androulakis with 27.9%, Dimitris Kustsoumbas with 26%, Yiannis Varoufakis with 19.9% and Kyriakos Velopoulos with 16. 2%
To the question which political leader do you trust the most34.5% answered – Kyriakos Mitsotakis, 22.1% – Alexis Tsipras, followed by Androulakis, Kustsoumbas, Varoufakis and Velopoulos with a smaller percentage.
Concerning what kind of government they prefer, 28.1% answered independent ND with 28.1% and independent SYRIZA 14.3%. The coalition government with the main part of ND wants 15.8%, and the government of cooperation with the main part of SYRIZA wants 23.2%.
