Aris Portosalte made a cynical statement Thursday night on the state TV channel ERT, after the Tempi train disaster, in an attempt to “whitewash” the Mitsotakis government, saying that accidents are… sacrifices(!) in the name of improvement.
A vocal supporter of the ruling New Democracy party (he publicly urges citizens to vote for ND), the journalist speaks on the predominantly state-run ERT TV channel, so the atmosphere was similar…
Referring to the tragedy at Tempi, he made a retrospective of previous accidents and said the inimitable: “After the crash”Express Samina“and loss of life off the coast of Paros, we modernized shipping. New ships have arrived. When there were three accidents, two in Tempe with PAOK friends and one with schoolchildren from Imathia, and the third in Agios Konstantinos again with schoolchildren, we decided to build a road network, we built tunnels for trains and for roads.
So, unfortunately, the children had to die… and there the children had to die. Pupils. Unfortunately. If I may say so, a sacrifice is a sacrifice, it was made, unfortunately. I have a feeling that we will move on unless we decide to close ose and kill the trains in Greece”.
