rape or "gypsy romance"

Yesterday, residents of the metropolitan area of Patisia were shocked by the kidnapping and rape of a 13-year-old girl, her father went to the police.

A couple, a man and a woman, were suspected of kidnapping, who allegedly took the girl away in a car. The woman, identified by the minor’s father as one of the two perpetrators, denies that the teenage girl was forcibly kidnapped and explains that her son decided to romantically “steal” the minor: “We Gypsies marry young.”

The girl’s father went to the Patission police station with a statement that his underage daughter was kidnapped by a 39-year-old man and a 41-year-old gypsy when she was near her aunt’s house, where she temporarily lived. According to the complaint, two gypsies took the girl to a secluded place and raped her.

A case was opened against the kidnappers and they were taken to the police station to give explanations. There, the woman and her husband testified that their son and girl decided to get married, which is why everything happened: “Neither I nor the father knew about it. He (the husband) went and found them, he hit the child, but I didn’t say anything because I understood what happened. There was never any abduction. We Gypsies get married young, you know that. Now her father has taken the girl,” the wife said.

After a complaint to the police, a 12-year-old girl was examined by a child psychologist, and then she was returned home, writes newsbreak.gr.
