45 pistols confiscated from foreigners at customs

Three foreignerstwo men and a woman, were handcuffed at Kipi Customs by police officers from the Security Subdivision in Alexandroupolias they were found in their luggage 45 pistols.

The police, using relevant information, with the help of a service dog “Maya”, as well as customs officers, found pistols in a specially arranged hiding place in the trunk of a car in which there were two Cypriots and a British woman, all three of whom were from the occupied territories of Cyprus.

During the search of the vehicle, two folding knives, 18 packs of cigarettes were also found, for which the relevant taxes and fees were not paid, metal graternine mobile phones and twelve SIM cards, the amount of 700 euros, as well as 27 coins and 10 pieces of coinsin respect of which it is clarified whether they fall under the provisions of the legislation on the protection of antiquities and cultural heritage.

Investigations continue to identify recipients of pistols, as well as the source of origin of the weapon. In addition, the police find out if the recipients are criminals in Greece. For this reason, the case is also examined by other competent services. EL.AS.

According to the information, the detainees refused to cooperate. with law enforcement when a police officer asked them about the purpose of their trip and destination. The detainees, against whom a criminal case has been initiated for violating the legislation on weapons and the national customs code, were taken to the prosecutor’s office for criminal cases in Alexandroupolis.
