Chania: Child swallowed sewer cleaner

In Chania (Crete), a 2.5-year-old boy swallowed the chemical “tuboflo” while at home.

Initially, the child was taken to the local general hospital, and from there to the intensive care unit of the PAGNI clinic because of the threat to his life. The terrible incident happened on Monday 30 January.

The day before, PAGNI administrator Mr. Georgios Chalkiadakis in an interview Cretalive said: “The baby is expected to be discharged tomorrow as his health continues to improve and the news is good.”

At the same time, he draws the attention of those close to whom the child is with to ensure that there are no such incidents in the future: “Parents should be careful not to leave children unattended. In addition, hazardous household chemicals should be kept out of the reach of the child.

Initially, the baby’s health condition was assessed as critical, as a result of which he was intubated and urgently transferred from the hospital of Chania to the University Hospital of Heraklion. Luckily, the baby escaped danger and, according to Mr. Halkiadakis, he was discharged from the intensive care unit on Tuesday (January 31) and is now being treated at a pediatric clinic. And then a new message came: the boy was discharged today, and nothing threatens his health.
