In Iran, an explosion at a military facility, drones attacked the plant of the Ministry of Defense

In the central part of Iran, in the city of Isfahan, drones attacked a military facility – a center for the production of ammunition.

The incident occurred on the night of Sunday, January 29, with reference to the military department writes government agency IRNA. According to the Ministry of Defense, on January 28 at around 11:30 p.m., the facility was subjected to an “unsuccessful attack using drones.” One of the drones was shot down by an air defense system, and the other two “fell into defensive traps and exploded.”

Mohammad-Reza Jan Nishari, deputy head of Isfahan for political security, said the factory was attacked by drones:

“Thanks to the forecasts and defensive measures that were prepared in advance, one of the drones was hit by air defense means and shot down, while the other two fell into defensive traps and were destroyed. The country’s security forces are carrying out actions to identify those involved in the attack on the plant.”

According to data Royal Joint Defense Research Institute (RUSI), near Isfahan, the Iranian company Shahed Aviation Industries is located, producing Shahed 131/136 kamikaze drones.

Meanwhile, Tasnim Agency informs about a night explosion and a large-scale fire at an industrial plant for the production of motor oil in the city of Azarshahr in northwestern Iran, fuel tanks are burning. Information about the dead and injured is not yet available, as well as whether these incidents can be connected. It is noted that the object was also attacked by drones.
