The ex-president of Ukraine remained "naked like a falcon"

The Ukrainian court ruled to confiscate all the property of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych, which turned out to be quite a lot.

How tells BB.LV, the confiscation of Yanukovych’s property in favor of the state was awarded by the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court of Ukraine, as reported by the Ukrainian Anti-Corruption Center on Wednesday. Confiscated from the ex-president:

  • residence “Mezhyhirya”;
  • hotel and restaurant complex in Sukholukhcha;
  • apartment in the capital on Obolonskaya embankment;
  • parking places;
  • 31 million hryvnia and 84.9 thousand dollars in bank accounts;
  • 100% stake in the authorized capital of Tantalit and Dom Lesnik.

In addition, 537 cultural items were confiscated from Yanukovych – books and icons, paintings and watches, antique furniture and vases, swords, weapons and … a cannon of the 19th century. The Anti-Corruption Center notes:

“The basis of the confiscation is that Yanukovych supported the Russian Federation, which carried out terrorist activities and aggressive war against Ukraine. He publicly addressed [украинскому] President [Владимиру] Zelensky with letters to end the war, accepting the conditions of the aggressor.

Viktor Yanukovych’s lawyers announced their intention to appeal the court’s verdict.

Yanukovych was President of Ukraine from 2010 to 2014. During the peak days of the Maidan protest movement, he fled to Russia. Several criminal cases have been opened against him in Ukraine.
