Innovative digital tools for small hotels in Greece

New actions with innovative digital tools for small tourist accommodations were presented by the Confederation of Tourism Accommodation Entrepreneurs of Greece at Xenia 2022.

Small tourist accommodations are vying for an increased role in the next day of Greek tourism, with three new actions and innovative digital solutions, as shown by the comprehensive strategy of SETKE (Confederation of Greek Tourism Accommodation Entrepreneurs) presented at Xenia 2022. As part of a roundtable on this topic organized by the Confederation together with Epsilon Hospitality (an Epsilon Net Business Software group company that specializes in digital solutions for the tourism business), SETKE President Panagiotis Tokouzis reviewed the implementation plan for “Smotel”, “Breakfast Basket” and “Alternative Holiday Experiences by SETKE”, which provide “tool resources” to differentiate their business in a market that is constantly changing and to which they must adapt in order to be competitive and therefore sustainable.

“Smotel” is a brand that aims to create a new “generation” of tourist accommodations. A tourist accommodation facility, regardless of category and size, can be certified under this new brand, provided that it provides its guests with updated and specialized services and benefits.

“SETKE Breakfast Basket” is a basket of pure traditional local products, with authentic Greek taste, which aims, on the one hand, to combine the cultural and culinary richness of Greece with accommodation and hospitality in tourist hotels, and on the other hand, to improve the quality of services, offered by small tourist hotels.

“Tourism for experienced”

“Experience Tourism from SETKE” offers tourist accommodations the opportunity to specialize in specific services, attracting visitors with special interests while helping to lengthen the tourist season, says Mr. Tokouzis.

The first four SETKE specialty offerings are Nature by SETKE (hiking), Bicycle by SETKE (bike touring), Family by SETKE and finally Gastronomy by SETKE (introducing Greek cuisine).

Epsilon Hospitality CEO and Epsilon Net Group Technology Manager Amanatios Amanatidis also mentioned digital tools, stressing that the use of social media and digital marketing in general to reach a wider audience and improve the competitiveness of accommodation facilities is constantly growing in Greek tourism.

At the same time, simplifying the management of day-to-day tasks with modern software that is directly connected to digital sales channels automates processes and reduces business operating costs. In this way, travel professionals have the opportunity to focus their attention and energy on the client and how to improve their experience of stay. All of these digital tools are now affordable for accommodations of any size, and are not the preserve of large units, as emphasized.
