European Commission: we should get used to the fact that Ukrainians will stay in Europe for many years

Ukrainian refugees will remain in EU for years and after the end of the war in their country. Countries like Poland and Germany will have to adjust to this.

So said Dubravka Šuica, Vice President of the European Commission, who knows firsthand about the war, in an interview RND:

“The key issue is that these families are thinking about returning home the day after the war. But they are not coming home yet. Their schools are destroyed, their homes are destroyed, their jobs are lost. I have to say this frankly, I myself experienced the war in Croatia in the former Yugoslavia”.

Dubravka Šuica is in charge of the European Commission for children’s rights at the European level. She urged not to stop supporting Ukrainians who need help:

“We must not show signs of fatigue, this is not an option. We must do everything possible – at the level of the European Union, as well as at the level of member states such as Germany – to help Ukrainian children who have escaped feel at home.”

For Ukrainian refugees, special job search platforms have been created in many European countries.

On Wednesday, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees said writes TASS that from the beginning of the war to November 22, 2022, European countries accepted a total of 7,861,084 refugees from Ukraine: Russia – 2,852,395, Poland (1,507,893), Germany (1,019,789), Czech Republic (462,622 ), Italy (173,231), Spain (153,054), Bulgaria (146,063), Turkey (145,000), UK (144,600), France (118,994), Slovakia (101,434). In other countries, the number of Ukrainian refugees does not exceed 100,000. 4,745,255 refugees are included in national temporary protection and support programs.
