Ships in the port of Piraeus will remain at the docks on Tuesday 25 October 2022 after five seafarers’ unions went on a 24-hour strike.

Seafarers’ unions The Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Engineers (PEMEN), the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Engineers (PENEN), the Panhellenic Union of Senior Seamen (PEATHEN) and the Panhellenic Union of Merchant Marine Engineers (O STEFENSON) will demand the abolition of the revised Code of Private Maritime Law, the renewal and implementation of collective employment contracts (CTS) with an increase in wages.
The Pan-Hellenic Union of Rescue Boat Tug Crews is also on strike. On this day, the seafarers’ unions will hold a rally in the port of Piraeus in front of the power plant.
On the same day, the Metalworkers’ Union, the Shipbuilders’ Union and the Dockers’ Union (ENEDEP) hold a 24-hour strike mobilization at the Piraeus container terminal. The dockers’ union emphasizes that there will be no container handling at berths II and III on this day and demands the inclusion of all workers in the BAA, the implementation of the collective agreement for all dockers and health and safety measures.
