Belgorod test site: what is known about the death of more than a dozen people

11 people were shot at a military training ground in the Belgorod region. The incident occurred on October 15, the Russian Defense Ministry called it a terrorist attack.

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation, in connection with the death of more than ten people at the training ground of the Western Military District in the Belgorod Region, opened a criminal case under the article “Murder” (Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), the publication reported “Kommersant”referring to official Telegram channel of the RF IC. “On October 15, two citizens of one of the CIS countries committed a terrorist act at the training ground of the Western Military District in the Belgorod Region.”

In September, Russia adopted a law to simplify the procedure for obtaining citizenship by foreigners who are ready to serve on a contract basis in the Russian army. Sergei Sobyanin, mayor of Moscow, announced the opening of a mobilization center right in the Sakharovo migration center, where a large number of CIS citizens are kept, writes dw.

According to official figures, as a result of shooting at a military training ground, 11 people were killed and another 15 were injured. The Ministry of Defense reports that it was the personnel of the “volunteer” unit, and the shooters were “destroyed by return fire.”

At the same time, the data of the Ministry of Defense and the Russian media differ, for example, about the time of the incident – the department reported a “terror attack” around 21.00 on October 15, and the source SOTA publications (journalists call him a direct witness to the incident) said that the shooting took place in the classroom at about 10.00.

The same source indicates the specific location of the incident – the Soloti training ground in the Belgorod region, and speaks of a greater number of victims – even after the official announcement, he claims that we are talking about 22 dead and 16 wounded. Russian-language Telegram channels publish photos, some of which, taken in the morning, show at least 13 bodies lying on the ground. A SOTA source says that three people fired:

“Two of the attackers had submachine guns, one had a machine gun. One of the shooters allegedly managed to escape. Abnormal people mowed down their own at the shooting range. And it is not clear whether someone had a cuckoo or this was some kind of sabotage. Just three people come out and start ( shoot) at their own.”

Journalists ASTRA, referring to their own anonymous source from the scene of the incident, indicate that it could have happened on religious grounds, and the target of the shooters was Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Lapin. According to the source, shortly before the incident, several Muslim soldiers filed reports refusing to participate in hostilities in Ukraine, as it was “not their war.” In response, Lapin gathered all the servicemen at the training ground for battle formation and called the war in Ukraine a “holy war.” “Tajiks told Lapin in response that a holy war is when the war of Muslims with infidels. Lapin said that “Allah, then a coward, if he does not allow you to fight for the country to which you swore an oath,” the source quotes the publication.

According to an ASTRA source, an hour and a half later, the servicemen were sent to the shooting ranges. There, three “Tajiks” who had previously participated in the dispute took machine guns with live ammunition, asked the Muslims to move away from Lapin and started shooting. “I remember that the names of the shooters are: Bikzot – he is a senior sergeant, the other is Anushe, and the third is junior sergeant Ami. I don’t remember his last name, junior sergeant Ami ran away,” the source says.

The Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov, in his Telegram channel, expressed his condolences to the families of the dead servicemen and denied, as reported “Gazeta.ru”information that the dead are residents of the Belgorod region:

“A terrible event happened on our territory, on the territory of one of the military units. A terrorist act has been committed. Many soldiers were killed and wounded. All the wounded are being treated. We have medicines, doctors and everything you need. I would like to express my condolences and condolences to all the families of the victims. We are with you. Everything that depends on us, we will help those who are now in our hospitals.”
