Greece: Natural gas price fixed at 11 cents per kWh in October

The price of natural gas for domestic consumption in October is set at 11 cents per kilowatt-hour, according to sources from Natural Gas Hellenic Energy Company, which is the largest supplier in the sector.

This price includes taxes, as well as a subsidy announced by DEPA, which is 9 cents per kilowatt hour. Based on these data, the price of natural gas is 20% lower than heating oil, which is estimated to sell between 1.42 and 1.45 euros per litre.

Distribution of heating oil will begin on Friday 14 October, and its price has been fluctuating recently. Fuel oil prices include a subsidy of 0.25 euros per liter announced by the government. Subsidies for beneficiaries of the heating allowance, which is granted under expanded criteria this year, are not included.

According to sources in the oil market, demand, at least in the early days of the winter heating season, will be subdued due to high prices and relatively favorable weather conditions, at least in southern Greece.
