Greece: 136,077 coronavirus cases in a week, deaths and intubations increase

The number of Covid-related deaths and intubations increased in the week of July 18-24, 2022, although the number of coronavirus cases in Greece decreased in the same reference week.

Health authorities announced on Tuesday 136,077 confirmed cases of coronavirus and 271 Covid-related deaths. According to a weekly bulletin released Tuesday by the National Public Health Organization (EODY), 132 intubated Covid patients are currently being treated in intensive care units. Cases were identified from 878,882 PCR and RAPID tests.

PCR+RAPID positivity rate: 15.48%. Average per day:

  • Infected: 19,806.
  • Deceased: 38(?), see below.
  • Intubations: 132 (115 last week, an increase of 14.7%).
  • Reception: moving average 399 (+10%)
  • Significant 8.5% drop in benchmarks PCR (93 710) and RAPID (785 172).

Of the 136,077 confirmed coronavirus cases (-1% weekly change), reinfections accounted for 19%. The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in Greece since the start of the pandemic has risen to 4,349,423, with 30,999 deaths in the same period.

During the reporting week 271 deaths registered patients with COVID-19 (26 per million population, weekly change +26% ). In total, 30 cases have been registered since the beginning of the epidemic. 999 deaths. 95.8% of the deceased had an underlying disease and/or were 70 years of age or older.

Interestingly, the previous week, EODY reported a total of 30,707 deaths, while this week it is 30,999.
