presiding in EU The Czech Republic wants to invite the European Union to reconsider its basic relations with the Russian Federation.
According to the publication “Rosbalt”the head of the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Jan Lipavsky, said this before the meeting in Brussels of the foreign ministers of the EU member states:
“I will call in my speech to think about what the new EU policy towards Russia should be. I think it’s time to reconsider our policies and measures towards Russia.”
Lipavsky believes that a number of fundamental principles on which relations between the EU and the Russian Federation are based must be “adapted to the new reality of hostility, we need to be prepared for Russian threats.”
It is expected that at a meeting in Brussels, EU foreign ministers will discuss sanctions against the Russian Federation, as well as assistance to Ukraine. The new measures could include restrictions on Russian gold imports and additional individual sanctions.
