Following the NATO summit in Madrid

The new strategy outlined during the Madrid summit will be followed by NATO member states over the next ten years.

Basis points: China as a “system challenger”, Russia as a security threat. President Joe Biden said the US is now ready to deploy its military arsenal to help partners:

“The United States is doing what they warned about, saying: if Putin invades Ukraine, then we will strengthen our position in Europe. We will deploy more ships here in Spain, more air defenses in Italy and Germany, more F-35s in the United Kingdom , and to strengthen our eastern flank, we will deploy a new permanent headquarters of the 5th Army Corps in Poland.”

The summit was called historic, referring to Sweden and Finland – traditionally neutral states have begun their journey to join the North Atlantic Alliance. In this regard, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said:

“The most important thing for us is that they become members of the bloc. We are here to protect our allies and, of course, Finland and Sweden. And we are ready for any unexpected turn of events.”

Even these countries do not object to the entry into NATO Turkey: the parties signed a memorandum, consolidating the agreements.

During the summit, topical strategic issues were considered, such as illegal migration through the countries of North Africa, security in the Sahel and others.

For the Russian Federation, the results of the NATO meeting in Madrid indicate a return to the Iron Curtain and the Cold War. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov reacted sharply:

“As for the Iron Curtain, I agree with Vladimir Vladimirovich that, in fact, it is practically already descending. Let them (the West) only behave carefully so as not to pinch anything. But this process has been launched.”
